I have worked with textiles for over 30 years, mostly quilting and stitching while I was a full-time public servant. My direction changed with retirement and participating in workshops with Kirsten Ingemaar in 2015 and 2016 focussing on natural dyeing and imprinting.
My love of plants, especially Eucalypts was the major focus of my Certificate IV in Visual Arts (Textiles) in 2016 at Marden Seniors College
My current practice involves surface design and construction processes using stitch, print and collage. I like to research, draw, and think about a new subject or theme before starting. In 2020 my focus is on the Port River’s industrial buildings surrounded by natural beauty.
When making textile art pieces for local exhibitions I prefer to keep it small and affordable for everyone. I make new work for each exhibition in Yankalilla. The images below are details of stitched digital prints on cotton. They were to be on exhibition in the cancelled/postponed Past and Present exhibition at Pepper St Arts Centre in Magill.
Christine is one the artists involved in the Short are the Days exhibition which is showing in the Coral Street Art Space in June 2020.
