Immerse yourself in the flowing stories of Water People 2025 Water on Country, curated by Ngarrindjeri Contemporary Artist, Amanda Westley.
Grounded in the profound connection between Water and Country, this exhibition brings together works by First Nations artists from across Australia. The collection highlights water’s importance to community – from sunbaked deserts to the heart of Ngarrindjeri land here on the South Coast.
Amanda, whose family is among the oldest Aboriginal families in the region, grew up on a farm near Victor Harbor. Her totems – the whale, pelican and black swan – reflect a deep bond with the sea, shaped by her father’s work as a boat builder. Known for her vibrant contemporary Aboriginal dot art, Amanda’s paintings honour the enduring cultural ties that unite land, water and community.
Join us for a special opening event including Smoking Ceremony and Song.
More details about the public program will be announced soon.
