Biography

I am a Ngarrindjeri women (mimini) and have strong links with my family and culture. My father Albert Lovegrove was born at Raukkan in 1924, then known as Point Mcleay. My grandfather Frank BuckskinLovegrove was born at Streaky Bay, a Wiramgu Man. My grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother Louisa Karpany, also known as Queen Louisa, all strong Ngarrindjeri women.

I enjoy painting, Pottery, Traditional Weaving, Silk Painting and most forms of art. Over the last 10 years I have exhibited my work in more than 18 exhibitions, enjoyed awards and undertaken many commissions.

My past work as a family Preservation Foster Care Aboriginal Cultural Consultant and with the Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Program also saw me teaching traditional art and culture at schools and kindergartens. My cultural history is very important to me.

We acknowledge the traditional lands of the Ngarrindjeri nation and we acknowledge their responsible stewardship over many thousands of years in caring for this country. We pay our respects to Ngarrindjeri Elders past and present for their continued advocacy and leadership.
